Screams of families in the dense thickness of the emerald tropics cries could be heard through out the mountains. people clung together praying for salvation from this up evil. In the heat of this relentless struggle a windowed mother protects her child shielding her child's eyes from the horrors behind them. The two ran on a trail of hope hearing the beats of footsteps behind them.
"Just a little further" her mother said. They could not outrun them they were surrounded, "Taloctl" she said pushing a blue necklace with dangling feathers into her small hands, "I want you to run, find somewhere safe." A large tear rolled down her face as she looked up too her mother who was fighting back tears of her own. Taloctl had never felt this kind of pain before something so powerful that tore at her heart making her want to reach out and hug her mother like she always had but she could not.
A large and terrifying figure that Taloctl could not make out of the blinding light of the roaring fire behind him approached the mother grabbing her by her violently, tossing her into the arms of servants. Taloctl could not see his eyes but she knew they were locked on her. She began to run speeding past her nearby foes into the forests. Taloctl would not dare look behind her, the sounds of foot steps were getting closer. Taloctl leapt into the bushes shoving branch after branch until she was in a clearing and the footsteps had vanished.
Taloctl sat under the nearest tree and wept the clouds did too. Taloctl looked up for any sign anything that could help her but she noticed something climbing down the tree she had leaned up against. It was a baby sloth, two in fact one clearly more mature then the other. They climbed down the tree eyeing Taloctl as they made their way down the tree landing on her head Taloctl jumped up thinking about heading back to the village but she did not know which way or if it was even safe she did not want to head back she knew she could not. Taloctl looked back at the sloths who had not taken their eyes off her. Taloctl picked up a nearby branch and held it out too the sloths who climbed on and up the branch to her surprise.
Taloctl looked too the west and saw a land of blue that seemed to stretch endlessly. Taloctl took one last look up at the stormy sky and headed west bringing her two new friends with her who she would eventually name Niikè and Nookoo.
